Santiago Chaumont
There was an era when advertising was a refuge for bohemians and artists of every kind. Writers, painters, musicians, and poets all found a space to develop their art. Santiago Chaumont did not arrive to advertising during this era. He was a few years too late. He started as an Art Director in the multiple-award winning Argentine agency Agulla & Baccetti and culminated his creative career in Mexico as executive creative director at renowned Z, where Alejandro González Iñárritu began his directing career.
Santiago would go on to also direct his first projects at Z Films, the agency’s production division and he would never look back.
Somewhere between ethos and pathos Santiago Chaumont finds the universal subtleties inherent in comedy dialog. Santiago’s constant search for the finer points that make up the human condition imbue his work with the nuances in interpersonal interactions, bringing to the surface as much humor in what is not said as the words people speak.
Today, Santiago splits his time between filming, drawing and doing nothing, in different proportions, depending on the period.
